On May 10, 2021, ETT’s Corazon Solar project was completed and placed in-service, interconnecting the first 200-megawatt phase of BayWa’s Corazon Solar generating facility in Webb county. ETT’s 345-kilovolt project consists of a station expansion and terminal addition at Lobo station, and 4.5 miles of tie-line to the generation facility. Significant cost savings were achieved by close coordination between the AEP Engineering, Procurement and Construction (“EPC”) project management team and ETT’s EPC contractor, Mortenson, leveraging renewable project experience and coordinating with the AEP standards engineering department. As a result, the T-line portion of the project was reduced to $1.5m/mile, well below the average of over $2m/mile. The project was also completed in a record 15-month timeframe when incorporating necessary Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (“CCN”) routing and approvals.
