On February 16, 2018, Electric Transmission Texas, LLC (ETT) submitted a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) to the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) for the construction of up 5 to 9 miles of new 345-kilovolt (kV) double-circuit transmission line in Hidalgo County, Texas. The Stewart Road 345-kV Transmission Line Project is needed to address electric reliability issues in the Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV). ETT will own and construct the transmission line. The project would require AEP Texas to expand its Stewart Road Substation to accommodate the new facilities.
The Stewart Road 345-kV Transmission Line Project will improve the local electric grid and help to provide reliable electric service to the surrounding area while also addressing continued growth in the LRGV.
