Heartland to Yellowjacket

On November 17, 2014, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Board of Directors endorsed a new transmission project in Menard and McCulloch counties of Texas. The new 138 kV line, to be operated at 69 kV will connect the Yellowjacket Substation near Menard, Texas to the new Heartland Substation near the city of Brady. The project is being jointly constructed by ETT and AEP Texas North Company.

The need for the project was demonstrated in August 2013 when the Brady area experienced a weather-related outage. This project will enhance the local electric grid to quicken restoration time and help provide reliable electric service to the surrounding area. Bolstering the infrastructure serving the Menard and Brady area will also support future economic growth and development.
